Policy Brief: LB856 (2024) | Child Care Subsidy Eligibility for the Early Childhood Workforce

Nebraska faces serious obstacles in recruiting and retaining talent in its child care industry, which offers comparatively low wages and few supports for early childhood professionals who are also working parents. LB856 (2024) proposes to make more of Nebraska’s early childhood professional workforce eligible for the child care subsidy by excluding all earned and unearned household income requirements for qualifying applicants.
